Cottage Cheese Donuts



  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup Buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/2 Lemon, juiced
  • 16 oz Cottage cheese
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 4 cups Flour
  • 1 cup Oil
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar (can use granulated, but it’s not as good)


  1. In a very large mixing bowl, combine eggs and sugar
  2. Next, mix in buttermilk and salt
  3. In a small bowl combine baking soda and lemon juice, let sit for a minute
  4. Add baking soda mixture into mixing bowl
  5. Then, mix in cottage cheese and vanilla
  6. Add flour, mix thoroughly
  7. Let sit in fridge for at least 1 hour (the longer it sits the fluffier they will be)
  8. Roll out dough to desired thickness
  9. Using a cup, cut as many circles as possible
  10. Using a small cap, cut a circle inside the larger circle
  11. Place remaining dough back into mixing bowl
  12. Repeat with dough, until there is none left
  13. Pour oil into a deep large skillet, should be about 2 in deep
  14. Fry each donut until golden, then place unto a napkin to remove extra oil
  15. Dip into powdered sugar
  16. Repeat with remaining donuts
  17. Serve warm
